Aitches

Aitches is a term referring to the rear hip and hindquarter area of a dog’s anatomy.

The aitches are the bony protrusions on either side of the dog’s rump, formed by the extensions of the pelvis and iliac bones. Well-defined, prominent aitches are desired in many breeds as it indicates good rear angulation and muscle development.

For example, sighthound breeds like Greyhounds are known for their pronounced aitches and extremely muscular hindquarters built for speed and power.
